Health Desk: Getting enough sleep is essential to keep your health healthy. But excessive sleep can have a detrimental effect on one’s health. This increases the risk of stroke. This is contrary to a research published in the medical journal “Neurology”.

According to research, getting more than 90 minutes of sleep during the day increases the risk of stroke by 25%.

Research
The research conducted by Huazong University in China involved 31,750 volunteers. All these people were researched for 6 years. Research has observed the habit of sleeping and cholesterol levels of all people during the day. At the beginning of the research, no one had a stroke problem, but 1,577 people had a stroke during the research.

The result
Research has shown that sleeping for 9 hours or longer at night increases the risk of stroke by 23%. In addition, it was found that people who sleep more than needed during the day and night have an 85% higher risk of getting a stroke.

According to the scientists involved, excessive sleepiness during the night and during the day increases cholesterol levels in the body, leading to the risk of stroke.
